How important do you think a parent is in shaping the way their kids think about their gender?

Is this such a bad thing if it is the case? It seems like people in the gender and cultural studies side of things are uber intent on smashing anything behavior or thinking that could possibly be a product of experience or culture. The problem is, humans are rooted to their experiences and culture. You can't abstract a person, just as you can't abstract a religion.
