What do you think about same sex marriages?

Given that everyone of whatever sexual persuasion has a right to happiness and to all the privileges enjoyed by a mixed sex union. What about any children involved. How would they explain their own sexual practises to an impressionable and confused child returning from school having just had a lesson in human sexual biology? Serious non religious answers would be appreciated.
