Because I'm around him a lot, do I have to turn out like my dad?

My dad is arrogant, racist, and very narrow-minded. He drinks excessively and hogs all conversation because he feels that what he has to say is more important than anything else. I recognize his actions as something that I absolutely don't want to be and try my hardest not to be like him. But regardless of that, I'm only 15 and am "impressionable" according to my mother, and hearing phrases such as "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" and "Like father like son" make me even more uneasy about who I'm going to become. I just need to know if I'm bound to inherit his behavior or if I can be different. I'm sorry if I sound bratty but this is how I feel and even though his bad traits are prominent, he's always taken care of me and my mom so don't get me wrong.
